Katie Wolfe’s (Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Toa Rangatira) debut short This is Her featured at NZIFF in 2009, followed by Redemption (NZIFF 2010) and Waru (NZIFF 2017). All three films had international success. Her first feature, Kawa, won Best Narrative feature at the 2011 National Geographic All Roads Film Festival. Wolfe was awarded the inaugural Women in Film and Television Mana Wahine Award in 2011, and received the 2017 Te Aupounamu Screen Excellence Award. The stage version of The Haka Party Incident received three Adam NZ Play Awards 2021 and won three major awards at the 2023 Wellington Theatre Awards.
