We celebrated the world premiere of the moving documentary Celia to a sold-out Embassy Theatre on 2 August. Thank you to director Amanda Millar for joining us for a Q+A following the screening.

NZIFF and a sold-out Civic Theatre audience celebrated Buster Keaton, the stone-faced genius of silent-era comedy, at his funniest and most thrilling in an exquisite new digital restoration of The General with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra performing the live music accompaniment on Sunday 5 August.

It was a star-studded evening at the world premiere of Hepi Mita's personal documentary Merata: How Mum Decolonised the Screen at ASB Waterfront Theatre. Thank you to director Heperi Mita and whānau and to Chelsea Winstanley, Cliff Curtis, Mihingarangi Forbes and Tearepa Kahi for joining us on stage for the Q+A.

Congratulations to the winners of the seventh annual New Zealand's Best short film competition. The winners were announced on stage at The Civic in Auckland on Saturday 4 August.

The World Premiere of She Shears at ASB Waterfront Theatre on 1 August was a great evening celebrating local talent. Thank you to director Jack Nicol for presenting his film in person and to the shearers who joined us on stage.
