In 1995, filmmakers Peter Jackson & Costa Botes paid a visit to Peter’s mother’s next-door neighbour’s shed. Amongst the clutter, they made a shocking discovery that would change the course of film history forever. Here, Jackson & Botes would begin the search to unravel the astonishing legacy of Colin McKenzie – a forgotten kiwi who could turn out to be the greatest cinema genius of all time.

The story is a rollercoaster of epic proportions, covering a full gamut of emotions from elation to deepest tragedy. Now, here is an opportunity to view it as originally intended – on a big screen, with a live crowd.

Forgotten Silver has been re-scanned at 4K resolution from the original 16mm master. The film has undergone selective restoration and colour grading to adapt and enhance the picture for today’s viewing environments. The filmmakers took extra care with the archival sections to ensure the original intent of this unique footage shines through, capturing all the wonderful details it has to offer. The audio has been enhanced to Dolby Atmos.
