NZIFF 2024 Artistic Director Paolo Bertolin chats to Hungarian film director and screenwriter Gábor Reisz about his debut feature Explanation for Everything, screening in Auckland and Wellington as part of the festival’s Portraits strand. A lovesick young student accidentally becomes a right-wing cause célèbre when he fails his exam in this sharp Hungarian satire which recalls the incisive social critiques of the Romanian New Wave.
