We are delighted to add a splendid new venue to the NZIFF constellation in Wellington. With roomy, comfortable seating, state-of-the-art projection and its convenient Courtenay Place location, Reading Cinemas Courtenay Central is well established as an essential destination for Wellington filmgoers. We could not be more pleased that they have rolled out the welcome carpet.

The ground floor ticket booth at Courtenay Central will be dedicated exclusively to NZIFF ticket sales and will also serve as the advance counter (formerly located at the Paramount) before the festival opens.

The Embassy, Penthouse, Roxy, Light House Petone and the cinema at Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision are also confirmed for NZIFF 2018. We regret that their lack of DCP facilities means that the City Gallery is no longer viable as a venue for our lunchtime screenings. Reading Courtenay enables us to present a full programme in place of the Paramount, home to the festival since 1972, which was closed soon after celebrating its centenary last year.

“We are extremely pleased to be part of the NZIFF in 2018 and to ensure that all filmgoers have a great time watching an exciting line up of films at Reading Cinemas. Having the ticket booth located within our ground floor offering at The Courtyard will add to the experience.” – Mike Vile, Head of Film Programming Australia and New Zealand, Reading Cinemas.
